Considering Regulator Champions in your Kindy Uplift planning?
Regulator Champions is whole-service professional learning designed to build educator capability around regulation, co-regulation, sensory needs, participation and the everyday moments that can become difficult in kindergarten.
Queensland's Kindy Uplift program allows eligible services to use funding for professional development, programs, resources and supports where they are connected to identified needs and Kindy Uplift priority areas.
Important Kindy Uplift note
The Queensland Department of Education does not maintain an approved or preferred list of Kindy Uplift professional learning suppliers and does not endorse individual providers. Eligible services are responsible for deciding whether a provider and purchase are appropriate for their own children, educators, community context and documented Kindy Uplift plan.

The funding should follow the need, not the other way around.
Kindy Uplift planning is designed as a cycle of collecting and analysing data, identifying priority areas, planning, implementing and then evaluating whether the work is making a difference.
That means the strongest case for Regulator Champions is not simply that the program talks about regulation. Your service should first identify what children and educators are currently experiencing and what capability you want to strengthen.
Analyse
Look for patterns, strengths and barriers affecting children’s participation and learning.
Plan
Choose a relevant Kindy Uplift priority area and decide what capability or practice change is needed.
Review
Evaluate whether the professional learning is changing educator practice and outcomes for children.

Queensland currently identifies six Kindy Uplift priority areas. Regulator Champions has the clearest potential connection with the following areas when they have been identified through your service's own planning.
Social and emotional learning
Regulator Champions helps educators notice body-based signs, understand co-regulation and reflect on how adult responses may support children’s social and emotional learning.
Executive function
The program supports reflection on the demands involved in waiting, changing activities, following instructions, managing impulses, shifting attention and coping with changes in routine.
Physicality
Movement, body awareness and sensory processing are considered as part of children’s participation, regulation and ability to engage in kindergarten experiences.
Equity and access for all
Teams are encouraged to notice barriers to participation and consider how routines, environments, expectations and educator responses may need to change for individual children.

What the professional learning is designed to change.
Regulator Champions is not individual therapy for children. It is professional learning designed to strengthen what educators notice, understand, discuss and do in everyday practice.
Notice before reacting
Help educators recognise early signs of overload, distress, fatigue, shutdown or reduced capacity before behaviour becomes the only focus.
Strengthen co-regulation
Build awareness of how educator voice, pace, proximity, expectations and emotional availability can influence difficult moments.
Reflect on real routines
Use arrivals, transitions, group experiences, outdoor play, sensory overload and end-of-day fatigue as practical learning opportunities.
Build whole-team consistency
Create shared language across educators and leaders so children are not experiencing completely different approaches from room to room.
Support implementation
Move beyond a one-off professional learning session by giving teams resources they can revisit, discuss and apply over time.
Document practice change
Use reflective prompts to help teams record what they noticed, what they changed and what happened afterwards.

Funding responsibility
Each kindergarten service remains responsible for determining whether Regulator Champions is appropriate for its current Kindy Uplift planning, identified priority areas, spending rules and procurement requirements. References to Kindy Uplift do not imply Queensland Department of Education approval or endorsement of Play Move Improve or Regulator Champions.
